Hi! it is impossible because of different interfaces and technologies....but you have 2 options. One is to buy an ATA ssd drive. The second is to buy an ultra bay sata adapter and put the sata ssd drive here but You will loose the dvd drive.

I have a T60 with
Hard Disk: 80GB
Hard disk type: ATA-100 (Enhanced IDE)
I want to install SSD on that too, you mentioned that you have SATA2, is it impossible to install it on ATA-100? because I have heard that ATA-100 reads up to 100MB/s and writes up to 90MB/s.

Howard,
for me the "correct" test is not using hdparm (unless someone tell me how) but using DD as I've done in my tests.

I can tell you surely that SSD is very very very speedy than 7200 Sata2 Disks.

To my T60 1951, I just change my old one into the new 7200rpm SATAII harddisk. and test the command
"sudo hdparm -t /dev/sda" and found the performance as follow:
/dev/sda:
Timing buffered disk reads: 308 MB in 3.03 seconds = 101.70 MB/sec
Though I am a bit regret to buy 7200rpm instead of ssd, but I would like to know if the above performance work best in my 7200rpm?? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I haven't removed anything.... simply unplugged old disk and installed the SSD.

My T60 have SATA2 not SATA1.

I don't know if my test are siginficant, I only know the "dd" method to test disk transfer rate.

Candyman in a comment suggest me do do also the "hdparm -t /dev/sda"
You can find the results at the end of the page.

So I can't tell "surely" what test is giving realest data.

Thank you for your comments.

Hello!!
Please tell how could you reach 293 MB/s read wwith your T60 + SSD?! You managed to remove the limiting to SATA 1 speed?
Please tell!
Thanks a lot!

Think yes, because "IEEE 802.3ad" is a link aggregation protocol, but I haven't done any test...
If you do some tests about, please post here the results.

Thank you

John,
I don't know your experience with this product, but honestly it cost about half of a Galaxy or Ipad, and I can't expect that I'm buying the same product....

I hope this is better than Chinese product like APAD & co....
